Sunday 21
June 2009

Following on from the success of 2008 we are pleased to announce that the 2009 Ride4aReason event will be taking place on Sunday 21 June 2009. This year we will be extending the routes on offer to include 2 newer shorter 25 and 33 miles of fully signed routes along quiet lanes together with the successful 44 and 64 mile routes of 2008.

Ride4aReason was established in 2005 and is an event promoted by the St. Albans Verulam Cycling Club (VCC) as a source of fitness and fun.

We are delighted to be returning to Woollam Pavilion, located next to the Old Albanians sports club. The excellent facility for our HQ provides ample parking, changing facilities and showers, and light refreshments when you’ve finished.

You will find access to information on this site to help you get ready as well as supporting information about this event and its roll in promoting cycling as part of Bike Week. It’s a healthy and fun challenge that anyone* can achieve with a little training.

We shall be providing full route signage, route directions and feed stations. R4AR is organised with the full cooperation of Herts Constabulary Road Policing Strategy Unit, who have reviewed the routes and risks assessments.

Whether your reason to join us for this event is to get fit, to explore and experience the wonderful quiet lanes of Hertfordshire, or if you wish to raise money for a charity, whatever your reason we hope that you will find this event a suitable and exciting challenge.

We offer four distances of 25, 33, 44 and 64 miles for you to choose from, and you don’t have to make your mind up until the day! All circular and starting and finishing from the HQ. These routes will take you through some of the quietest lanes in Hertfordshire and to places you might not otherwise go. Whether you would like to cycle with friends, colleagues, family or join members of the VCC we hope that this year will be as enjoyable and successful as 2008.

FREE massage is available from Colin Bailey of Colin Bailey Sports Therapy. The service is free but donations for this are welcome and will go to Ride4aReason. Bookings can be made the morning of the event to reserve a time slot. If you miss your booking all remaining spaces will be filled on a first come bases. Each treatment will last for approximately 15 minutes. www.colinbaileysportstherapy.co.uk.
